Niseko Resort Tourist Association is the first tourist association in Japan to become a public company. Initially a private organization that depended on government subsidies, it is now generating its own profit promoting regional development. Furthermore, 50% of its shares are owned by local residents. Along with providing tourist information, it also issues Niseko Collection discount tickets that can be used at various activity centers and restaurants around town. Additionally, the association is in charge of marketing Niseko souvenirs and specialties, issuing train tickets for JR Niseko station, and managing Radio Niseko, a community radio broadcasting service.
