The new Niseko Town Hall, which was completed in May 2021, functions as a base for disaster prevention initiatives and is a symbol of Niseko’s commitment to reduce CO2 emissions as an Environmental Model City and SDGs Future City. It is also one of the most energy-efficient government buildings nationwide. With triple glazed windows and high performance heat insulation material installed in the walls and roof, less energy is used for heating in winter and cooling in summer. Moreover, the panels on the interior are made from white birch, a tree that is representative of Niseko, and the bricks on the exterior are made with soil collected from the site during construction. Additionally, the tables, chairs and artwork at the kids’ corner, breastfeeding room and waiting area are sourced from local artists. Visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of Mount Yotei and Niseko Annupuri from the 3rd floor while utilizing free Wi-Fi available throughout the building.
