Symbol Road is an 894-meter-long town road in Mifune Town connecting National Route 443 and the Imajo-Nakahetami town road, which used to be National Route 445. There are many establishments concentrated along the road, including Mifune Town Hall, educational facilities, and shops. Built for pedestrian safety and as a way to revitalize the shopping district, it took approximately ten years, from 2003 to 2012, and a total project cost of roughly 1.8 billion yen to complete.
Symbol Road is 18 meters wide, with 7-meter-wide single lanes running in each direction on the roadway. 4-meter-wide sidewalks and planting strips line the road on either side. And, to entertain the eyes of people traveling on it, five realistic dinosaur monuments and 12 fossil monuments have been installed along the side of the road.
